Peakaboo - Process from beginning to end.

I had always intended this piece to be a part of a much more complex image, but the more time I spent with the image the more it seemed to stand alone.

This is most likely a byproduct of how I work. I work out the composition for most of my pieces ahead of time and draw the line work on multiple layers of vellum or paper. This allows me to adjust the layers of space if I make a mistake or want more freedom in the composition.

In this case it lead to a less is more image.

Kalif Alhassan from my upcoming STUDS UP PORTLAND project. - 2013 Final image and process steps.

This is going to be a part of a visual essay I am working on about futbol, the Portland Timbers, and the supporters group, the Timbers Army both past and present.

I started thinking about the project as a way of updating my portfolio. I chose sports because I love sports. Sports have, in my opinion, taken the place of theater. It is drama with an unscripted ending. Also, staring at numbers helps sooth the ADHD. Look for STUDS UP PORTLAND in about a month. I will be trying kickstarter for the first time to help fund the project. Stay tuned.
